~ For the joy of seeing the Sanctuary and school decorated for Christmas so beautifully. ~ For those preparing for our Christmas Open House on Thursday, December 8th, from 6 to 8 p.m. - we pray the love and commitment they have given to this event will be blessed, and that people will find the time to stop by and enjoy this event, while being able to purchase some homemade baked goodies and decorations. Our choir will also be singing for us that evening!

~ For those who have already responded to our appeal letter and are supporting the expansion of this ministry to purchase a new building for a counseling center and transition home. With the closing later this month, it is encouraging to know others are being led by the Spirit!

Inner Peace

Spirit Week was the week of September 26th; they had fun dressing up for PJ Day!

“Let be and be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”

Bless Two Ministries at one Time:
On Saturday, October 15th, Inspiration Ministries is sponsoring their bi-annual Wheels and Keels Auction. We have been praying for a used minivan in good shape, and believe the green 1995 Plymouth Voyager they have available for this auction may meet our needs. A few years ago we had a 15-passenger van donated, which has met our needs up to the past few months. Now that we currently have 15 girls in our program, and usually 2 chaperones going along on any event for that many girls, we have the need for a second vehicle. It would also be handy for our House Mom when she needs to take more than 3 or 4 girls somewhere.

Please consider whether or not you are able to respond to this need, and help hurting girls find the healing they need, while also helping another ministry meet the needs of disabled adults.

Prayer Requests:
~ Pray that our Agape Angels take time to be still in His presence, to know that His peace is an inner treasure we can have simply by trusting in God.

~ For our girls to know the value of having trust in relationships.

~ That our girls look at change as a new adventure.

Praise Reports:
~ That the girls are adjusting to new situations, some more quickly than others, but we are seeing progress.

~ For the donation of bath towels, hangers and a blanket – we are so happy you thought of donating these to Agape House.

~ For our volunteers; God is so good!

~ For the people who are planning on attending the Informational Night next Thursday (10/20/11), that their hearts will be touched by what God is doing for the girls and their families through this ministry, and that they respond to whatever it is God desires them to do to support Agape House.

Items Needed:
Donations for 2 upcoming special interest school events $20 pp – this will help defray the costs for those families who are not able to afford this (if you send in a check for this, please note: ‘School Events’ in the memo line)

Electric stapler for each classroom.

One more old card table for Art class

15 Thumb (Flash) Drives so each student has her own for computer class

Bulletin Board Decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas
Cereal
Fresh Produce: Veggies and Fruits
Snacks, i.e., almonds, peanuts, dried fruit, granola bars, crackers
Yogurt
Milk (1% please)
Chicken

Wish List:
Funding for a field trip wherein the girls will have time to play (see note under items needed)
Mini Van (used and in good shape) - free or very good price
Gas Cards to take the girls to various events in the van
Gift cards for the girls to be able to go to Starbucks, bowling, a movie, or Subway

Ways to Help at this time:
~ Speech teacher to help one of our girls with IEP; about 40 minutes a week.

~ Tutors for afternoons and Friday morning.

His Path, Truth and Faithfulness

“Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and faithfulness and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; for You do I wait all the day long.” ~ Psalm 25:4-5

~ For the joy of working with animals! Last Friday the girls were able to visit the home of an Agape friend who has horses, dogs and cats, and help tend to their needs.

Praise Report/Prayer Request
~ For the joy that nobody was harmed last Friday in the early hours of the morning when one of our dryers had a fire in it! Everyone responded beautifully as needed, and all were safe (although everyone had to sit outside for an hour or so until the fire department gave them the all clear - it was a short night of sleeping for many). However, we have a prayer request for (2) new stackable washers and dryers. We have greatly appreciated the donation of used appliances, but they do get a lot of wear and tear in the Home. And they have been requiring lots of maintenance. We are now down to (1) dryer, and still having problems with it. We are praying for donations to purchase these (2) new sets of stackable washers and dryers - if you feel led to donate towards this need, please indicate in the Memo line of your check: Washer and Dryer. Thank you.

If so, we are looking for a few volunteers who will each teach a 6- to 9-week session of PE for our girls on Monday afternoon from 1:45 to 3:00 p.m. We already have one person to oversee the program; we just need others to take a turn and come along side with your talents. ~ Praise God for the girls who have returned to Agape School, and have agreed to ‘mentor’ the new girls, taking them under their wings these first few weeks to help them make the adjustment!

~ Praise God for the amazing work that took place in these girls over the Summer as we see the difference in who they are today compared to who they were a year ago as they come out from the darkness.

~ Praise God for all who support this ministry in any way at all, whether it be someone responding to a call to repair an appliance, help out one evening a month in the Home by doing something special with the girls, clean, prepare a meal, provide financial support, pray, tutor a few hours each week in the school, help prepare the newsletters to be sent out, donate paper supplies, provide a place for the girls to ‘get away to’ on a weekend, etc. Everyone who supports this ministry in any way is helping to change the lives of these precious children.

Depending on Him

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty.” ~ Psalm 91:1

Prayer Requests:
~ Pray for our girls (and their families) to understand that God wants us to depend on Him, He wants to fight for us, He wants to work on our behalf, as we rest in the shadow of His Almighty Presence. And knowing this, the girls will be strengthened to go forth each and every day.

~ Pray for the new girls moving into the Home on the 28th, and for the girls returning from last year who will move in on the 30th, that they will know God’s peace and comfort as they make this adjustment in their lives.

~ Pray for food donations to come in as we prepare to open the Home for all the girls moving in starting on Sunday, the 28th of August. We’ll need fresh produce, dairy products and meat (lunchmeat, chicken and beef). See more details below.

~ VOLUNTEER NEEDED TO TEACH PE: Pray for our PE program. We are in need of people who are willing to teach a variety of 6- to 9-week sessions of PE throughout the year for our girls on Monday afternoon from 1:45 to 3:00 p.m. We already have one person, so if you know someone who is gifted in a particular sport, and available at this time on a weekly basis, we would love to talk to them to see if they can help in this area. Contact Jan at 262-275-6466.

~ Pray for the families (and girls) who are still deciding whether or not to come to Agape School; pray that they will have peace regarding their decision. We have a few girls we had hoped would return, and are concerned that they are not returning (as of this date). We know the seeds have been planted, and they will be watered in due time; but we also know that one more year here could make a big difference in the lives of these girls.

Praise Reports:
~ For the wonderful response to our request for the young lady in need of dental work. The appointment has been set for the work to begin next week (please pray for her to know God’s healing powers are already at work).

~ For the volunteers who helped stuff and label newsletters for our quarterly mailing.

~ For all of you who contributed to make our staff retreat this week more enjoyable by making a meal, doing a devotional, or giving a boat ride.

~ For the joy of staff gathering together for our retreat to plan and prepare for the new school year. It went very well, and we even found some time to fellowship and enjoy a boat ride on Lauderdale Lakes!
