GIVE THEM HOPE 2014!

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope." ~Psalm 130:5

Dear Friends:

There is great excitement in the air at Agape as we approach Christmas, the day we have been busily preparing to celebrate!

There is probably more meaning for our Agape Angels to this time of year, and along with the excitement, there is generally anxiety. This is the first time some of our girls will spend a longer period of time at home with their families since they came to Agape at the beginning of the school year. However, along with that anxiety goes HOPE! These girls are hoping that this Christmas will be different, due to the new coping skills they are learning, as well as the healing that Christ is providing for them.

May your Christmas be blessed in ways that only God can do. Thank you all for your ongoing support of this ministry.

Blessings . . .

Pam

OFFICE HOURS DURING CHRISTMAS BREAK
The school office will be open on Monday, the 23rd and 30th of December,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., OR by appointment. To contact us for an appointment,
call (262) 275-6466 or email: jan@agapehouseforgirls.org

Prayer Requests:
~ Pray for our Agape Angels to know the joy of that HOPE, as they have been preparing and waiting for this day for longer than most young people. Pray that they are able to cast their cares upon the Lord, and go forth with the abandonment of children to enjoy this new season in their lives, which is all as a result of the birth of Jesus Christ.

~ Pray for the families of our Agape Angels to trust God to help them incorporate what they have learned in the last 4 months into their time with their daughters, and to know the joy of HOPE.

~ Pray for physical, emotional and spiritual healing for our Agape Angels, staff, volunteers and their families.

~ Pray for prayers to be answered at this miraculous time of year.

"For God so loved the world that He gave HIs one and only Son, that whoever

GIVE THEM HOPE 2014!

"Faith is the assurance of the things we HOPE for, being the proof of the thing we do not see, and the conviction of their reality." ~ Hebrew 11:1
Dear Friends:

What a blessing it was to see so many of you attend the Christmas Open House, in spite of the cold and snowy weather. Thank you for your ongoing support of this ministry!

I pray that you are enjoying your preparations for this Christmas season, as we remember the reason for this celebration . . . the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May His LIGHT shine through you for all the world to see and desire to know about eternal salvation!

Pray for our Agape Angels to have FAITH to let the LIGHT of God's presence shine on their HOPES and plans.

Pam

Dear Friends:
We are blessed at Agape House in so many ways as each of you seek to meet our needs as God leads you! Our lunch program is one of those blessings: we currently have  4 churches, 2 parents of girls and 9 individuals who each provide and serve lunch once a month during the school day.  We thank God that His love is showered on the girls in this way.

We are still looking for individuals or groups to do lunch on the 3rd Monday and the 2nd Wednesday of each month, as well as an occasional day as needed.  Right now, we are looking for someone to provide and/or serve lunch on Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st. If you can help meet this need in any way, please call Liz Pieters at Agape School at 262-394-5043.

Thank you for all that each of you do in His name to meet the needs of this ministry; each of you are the apple of His eye!

Praise God / Prayer Requests:
Last week, the directors of Agape went away for a retreat for a few days to take time to hear what God wanted to share with us as we sat still in His Presence. We were blessed with a beautiful home to stay at that was on a  lake; each morning the air had the crispness of Fall in it, and as the day went on, it warmed up so that we could enjoy the remnants of Summer as we sat outside for our quiet time and meetings, soaking up His goodness and glory. One morning, the Lord filled me with His poetic grace as He helped me write this prayer, which I offer up as our prayer requests for Agape House this week.

LORD, SHOW ME . . .
~ how to dance with You like the leaves twirling and falling from the trees ever so gracefully;
~ how to calmly face the challenges in life like the tall, feathery grasses blowing in the wind;
~ how to offer the warmth of Your love to others like the sun shining down on us;
~ how to let Your love flow through my arms as I give my loved ones a hug;
~ and most of all, show me how to be more like You in all I say and do as I “be still and know that You are God.”

~ Please pray for one of our older students who is struggling to settle in this year, and is filled with a desire to ‘run away’; pray that she is able to recognize that the enemy is trying to steal away from her all the good things that God has planned for her life, and for her to accept with gratefulness the gift that she has been given from God to take part in the program at Agape House.

~ Please continue to pray for our girls to understand that ‘bullying’ is another way that the enemy is attacking, and that the counter attack is to speak God’s truth into their minds and spirits to overcome the lies of the enemy.

~ Please pray for the girls to desire to make healthy life choices, including eating properly, getting appropriate rest, and spending time at the beginning of each day with God, trusting in Him to direct their path.

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” ~Proverbs 3:5-6

Praise God:~ for all of the donations that have come in: fresh fruit (apples and pears)  and vegetables, meals, snacks, other food donations, personal items, rolling pin, paper shredder, art supplies, breads from Panera and Butternut, clothing for the girls, donations for our silent auction, and gently used Yamaha keyboard and CD player, and so much more . . . it is such a blessing to see how God meets all of our needs, and a joy to know that all of you are checking our ‘Wish List’.

Each day at Agape House is filled with a mixed bag of events; this was especially true as the day for the 15th Anniversary Celebration approached! Yet, we were able to continue with what we needed to do because we knew that with God, we would overcome.

Prayer is a vital need for this ministry, and we are grateful to all of you who stand with us praying on a regular basis; please continue to do so – your prayers are making a difference!

As we wrap up each school year, we try to take the girls on a trip that will give them a new opportunity that broadens their horizons, as well as give them a unique time to bond with those they have spent so much time with over the past 10 months. This year’s trip included camping in tents, as well as rock climbing outdoors; definitely new experiences for most of the girls.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00 to 3:00

"The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” ~ Psalm 34:7

Praise God for the joy of our Agape Angels being blessed with an ‘Adventure Camping / Rock Climbing’ trip by Phantom Ranch in Mukwonago! This past week the girls were able to experience a new adventure in their lives, along with some of the staff. It was a great way to spend time bonding with each other while enjoying the extraordinary outdoor beauty of all that God has created right here in Wisconsin at Devil’s Lake State Park. While the weather was a little chilly at night, it was perfect during the day for rock climbing. They were also blessed that they didn’t get rained on at all!

Praise God that through these experiences, the girls were able to step out of their comfort zone and learned to overcome so many fears: heights, bugs, snakes, and even the fear of trying a new experience!

Praise God that the girls were also able to find joy in the midst of their discomfort. At times when things became overwhelming for them and they may have gotten into a bad mood, they were able to turn it around and enjoy the rest of their day. In the past when they have found themselves in a bad mood, it was something they hung on to and it ruined the rest of the day.

Praise God that none of the girls ever felt ‘left out’ on this adventure!

Praise God for the two who were able to climb all the way to the top of the rock: Ashley B and our very own Becky Wissell (House Mom).

Praise God for the staff from Phantom Ranch who were amazing, friendly, encouraging, and also did a great job of cooking the meals!

Please continue to pray for our Agape Angels as they go through the summer months; pray that they will spend time each day enhancing their relationship with God, and that they will turn to Him in the good times and the bad, when they need Him and when they are grateful to Him, and strengthen the bond so they realize they cannot live one day without God in their lives!

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?." ~ Psalm 27:1

Thursday, June 6, 2013

As we begin Summer School, our Agape Angels will have less structured time, and thus, they need even more prayer over the summer months to help them remember what they have learned in the past year at Agape.

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS NOW IN EFFECT:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:00 to 3:00 (or by appointment)

Prayer Requests:
"I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward."  ~ Philippians 3:13-14

~ For our Agape Angels to be able to move out of their past, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, pressing toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus, knowing that clinging to the past prevents them from moving forward.

"Make us glad in proportion to the days in which You have afflicted us and to the years in which we have suffered evil." ~ Psalm 90:15

~ That the girls recognize that God will redeem and restore what has been lost in their past, trusting Him to make up for the bad things that may have happened.

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. ~ Psalm 91:1

~ That when these girls are overcome with emotions they cry out to God for help to resist the surge of emotions that threaten to overwhelm them, knowing that He will intervene on their behalf; thus, allowing them to take refuge under His shadow where they will be safe and secure, knowing that no power in heaven or on earth can withstand Him.

Praise God:
