Thank You
~ to Pam Hoyard, who is helping prepare lunch menus on Fridays for the month of April.
~ to Sandy Duncklee and Lillian Rhoades, our newest tutor volunteers.
We are so grateful for everything that each and every volunteer does at Agape School, and hope you all know what a difference you make here!

Thank you.

SCHOOL NEWS:

Outreach at Milwaukee Rescue Mission - Our trip to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission on April 9th was truly a blessing. This facility has been providing spiritual and material help for the homeless and poor of Milwaukee County for 115 years, and this is all done through the financial support of donors. It was obvious to us that the only way they can do all they do is through their faith in God, and their facility is a beautiful living testimonial. The girls did an awesome job assisting with serving lunch to 120 men that day. After all of the information we received on our visit, it was good to go to the website (http://www.blogger.com/) and confirm what I heard, and read the stories of some of the people who have been through their program. In so many ways, we found their goals to be similar to ours at Agape School, so this was a very encouraging visit. On May 17th they are having an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to celebrate their 115th anniversary. This would be a good chance to see the work they are doing there.

Flower Beds - We have been blessed with a volunteer (Pam Hoyord) who is going to work with the girls to rejuvenate the flower beds in the front of the church. She is contacting nurseries that might be willing to donate shrubbery and/or plants, as well as mulch, etc. Removal of the shrubbery is going to be quite a task, so if you know anyone who might have the equipment to do this and be willing to help out, please let Jan know at the school.

Healthy Lunches - During the month of April, the focus at lunch time has been making healthier choices. The girls prepared menus based on the food pyramid, and then they helped prepare their menu the day it was being served. We have had some wonderful volunteers help with preparation of these meals, and some of them are quite gourmet! We want to thank the following: Claudine Wells, Dee Boviall and Pam Hoyord. In addition, these women have blessed us bountifully with food for these gourmet meals the girls selected, which in turn helps to keep the cost to the students reduced. Praise God, the girls are eating fruit and vegetables on a regular basis now!

If anyone is interested in helping us expand this lunch program, either by volunteering on Tuesdays and Thursdays to prepare meals, or by donating fresh fruit and vegetables, please contact Jan at the school.

Tutors - We have been blessed with several tutors to help the girls with their core curriculum, and they are enjoying the special help/attention they receive in this process. If you or anyone you know would like to help out in this way and have a couple of hours to spare in the morning, please contact Jan at the school. We are currently in need of extra tutors on Monday and Wednesday, as well as substitute tutors for those times when the regular tutors are not able to make it.

Prayer Requests - In addition to all of our usual prayer requests, please pray for Dee McBride and her family as she flies to Florida Friday (the 18th) to be with her son, Timothy, who was in an accident yesterday. He will have surgery on Monday. He has 2 young children that will need prayers for strength and faith as well. Dee has been our volunteer Art teacher this year, and the girls will miss her while she is away with her family.
