This is why we ask you to pray....

Look at these faces.

The lives that God transforms through the ministries of Agape House are so precious to us. We thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and support. Through the ten different programs we offer, to the girls who have gone on into their communities after being a part of one of our programs...we see God reaching a lost and hurting generation.

Here is what He has called us to do. The Agape Home and School for Girls is located at 215 S. Main Street in Walworth. Two years ago, God provided nearly half a million dollars for us to purchase the old Grace Church facility. The Agape School for Girls just began its second year of operation this month. We currently have six girls enrolled, with two more in the application process.

We were greatly blessed to receive a generous donation that was designated to complete the dorm rooms so that we will be one step further to opening the Teen Home. The carpet is going in, the stairs are being covered with vinyl, we have purchased the furniture and comforters for the rooms, and the bathroom/showers are near completion. WE CURRENTLY HAVE FOUR GIRLS WAITING to take up residence in the Teen Home. The houseparents, Jim and Becky Lambiris, are set to move in as soon as we get approval. Resident Assistant, Christina Hunt, is currently residing in the Transitional Living Home.

WHAT WE NEED:

We currently are praying in an additional $25,000 to complete the Teen Home. We believe we are to open in mid-October. We need $10,000 for the furnace for the gym, $5,000 for flooring and $5,000 to complete the rest of the renovation and gain approval to open the Home. These are all funds needed above the monthly support we currently receive to continue the ministry. Please join us in prayer for these needs. We also have a ministry DVD that is available, it is nine minutes long. Its a wonderful tool to share what Agape House is with small groups, civic organizations, or your church groups.

We were excited to share the DVD with several pastors' wives from different conferences of the Evangelical Covenant Church. They were hosted by Sandy Heinitz, who is the pastor's wife at Millard Community Church and is on the board of Agape House. We met with representatives from Alaska, California, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. Pray that God would use the ministries of Agape House to extend across our great nation to help hurting young women.

Other needs:

Large packs of toilet paper - We were so blessed over a year ago when the Vacation Bible School from Immanual UCC in Lake Geneva collected a year's worth of toilet tissue. And now we're out. : ) This is a an easy, tangible way you can support Agape House.

Another new program is "Change the Life of a Girl". By collecting change, either at home, school, or in the workplace you can raise much needed funds to support the ministry of Agape House. I empty my purse of loose change every week. I have found that I have been able to collect anywhere from $10-25 a month or more. It's money not missed in my monthly budget and its a great way to be a blessing ! Students can approach their schools about raising funds. Employees can approach their employers about bringing it into the workplace. We will provide a jar and a poster, if needed. Please contact me, Tina, at 262-275-6466 if you would like to participate !

Thank you and God bless. Look for our newsletter coming out in the coming weeks. Mark your calendars for October 26th at 5:00 at Grace Church, 500 S. Main Street in Walworth as we celebrate 10 YEARS IN MINISTRY !! Be watching future email updates for more information !

God is good !

September 12th Update

I'm sure most of us found ourselves reflecting yesterday, back to the events of 9/11/01. Its hard to believe its been seven years. I'm sure none of us can forget where we were that fateful day. It was a defining event, that changed our country forever.

Over 2000 years ago, a defining event occurred that changed the world forever. Jesus Christ willingly sacrificed himself on Calvary, to be the sacrifice and atonement for our sins. In one act of love and scarifice, when He gave up the spirit, it was done and He declared, "It is finished". Hallelujah !

Today we see that spirit working in the lives of the girls at Agape. As they yield to it, God is transforming lives and setting them free ! It is work that we cannot accomplish, as humans, but is only possible through the power and authoritity of the cross.

Back to School

PICTURED ABOVE: CELEBRATING BACK TO SCHOOL !!
We are excited to welcome new students, Morgan and Allison. We also welcome new staff:Pam Hoyord and Misty Jaeger as classroom supervisors and Elizabeth King, Counselor.

We are awaiting with eager anticipation to open the Teen Home. We have staff in place, houseparents Jim & Becky Lambiris and Resident Assistant, Christina Hunt.

Now, more than ever we need your prayers for God to provide the $15,000 additional funds (above our needed amount of $3000/wk to cover expenses) so that we can purchase the furniture and complete the dorms.

IMMEDIATE NEEDS:

A wood door (separates offices from houseparents quarters)

Funds for bunk beds 6 @ $150 each

Funds for dressers 12 @ 100 each

We also have an extensive list of items needed for the school hot lunch program. Please contact Jan at 262-394-5043.

School prayer requests:

· God’s continued presence in every aspect at Agape School
· All volunteers, staff and families
· Liz King for her Dad and family
· Every student and their family
· Incoming students

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and support !! We are so excited at what God is doing....a new student accepted Christ yesterday. How awesome is that ??? Our counselor, Liz King was on an early morning walk and found a brand new rug on the side of the street. It just "happens" to match (exact same rug) the area rug in the school foyer and just "happened" to be a rug runner (complete with rug tape on the back) that we needed to go down the entry way stairs !! God is definitely able to do exceeding and abundantly beyond what we could ever surmise. Each week as we go to pay the bills, we see His provision. We were blessed when our general contractor informed us that the Lord told him to pay for a door that was needed and cost thousands of dollars.

If you or anyone you know would like to help out in any way, please contact us. We have work days (just about every day now) and we are still registered at Target, Wal-Mart, ShopKo, and Kohl's for items needed for the dorms.
